I’m new here. Hi, my name is Sandy, and I shoot combat sports photography. I shoot in Minnesota, with most of my work with Sterling Entertainment Group/Driller Promotions in Minneapolis. I have shot with Full Nelson Fight Promotions, NorthStar Combat and CFX, and have been invited to shoot with STOMP MMA, all MN-based promotions.
I also work with Friday Night Fights Muay Thai in NYC. I shoot with them when I can, and I regularly write for their website. In the past year I’ve shot in NYC w/ them three times, and Seattle once. I have a secret goal — bring them to Minnesota next.
I love my newfound love. Next month will mark my two year anniversary as a combat sports photographer. I got involved when my friend, Ron Kalstabakken, invited me to shoot a couple of shows, share my photos with their artist, who would then turn them in to paintings — and auction them off for charity. Done. I’m always will to do something that helps out a charity.
I started off having to look up what MMA even stood for. And now I can’t live without shooting fights. I’ve stopped all other photography so I can focus solely on this.
I shoot boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai, and mixed martial arts. I’d like to shoot contact baseball but I can’t seem to find anyone willing to play it.
Previous to this, I was a simple stay-at-home Mom to three kids. I’m 42-years old, and a testament to the fact that you can do anything you want, any time you want…you just have to believe in yourself.
