It was May when we last saw Frank Schuman in the cage, and he is more than ready to dominate his game again this Saturday night. “Nightmare” will be in action with King of the Cage on July 25th at Lake of the Torches Casino Resort, against MN fighter Robbie Gotreau.
Schuman currently maintains a perfect professional record at 5-0. He will put this record on the line as Gotreau looks to come back from a loss in April. The Nightmare took a few moments out of his focused training schedule to answer a few questions for us.
What have you been up to since your last fight?
FS: Training every day of the week, working, and my wife had our newest baby (little healthy girl). Fight life is my home and work life. I have to live, breathe sweat MMA to get where I want to in my career.
What fight is this and what is your total time in the cage so far?
FS: I’ve had a total of five fights, all ending in the 1st round via submission. (The arm bar seems to be my bread and butter, but I have one rear naked choke in there as well.) I have a total of 3 minutes and 46 seconds in the cage. My longest fight was against Eric Perry, which was a time of 1 minute and 19 seconds, back in May in Iowa.
How did your last fight go?
FS: My last fight was fun for sure, it ended slightly fast not as fast as I would have liked but it ended positively for me. I was able to finish Eric via arm-bar (elbow Dislocated to be exact after he tried to slam me of the base of my head.
What do you know about your next opponent, Robbie Gotreau, and his fight style?
FS: I’ve personally watched one of his fights against a friend of mine, Zak Ottow, last December. I’m honestly not worried about his style. He’s not going to do anything I haven’t seen or experienced yet. I do know I need to respect his strengths, which he has a lot of, from his stand-up to his ground game. But like I stated before, I’m not worried. I’m the better prepared athlete coming out of a solid and very long fight camp.
What is your next goal after this fight?
FS: After I win this fight, I’m going after the gold –KOTC gold! It has been overdue, and missing from my waist for far too long.
Fight to Finish Photography would like to congratulate Frank and Carli Schuman on the newest addtion to their family, and to congratulate their oldest daughter on her new job as a sister! Here is wishing our best to the family, and to Frank as he continues his journey through the exciting world of MMA.
