Fresh off a win from his pro debut, Fight to Finish fighter Alex Cooney is confident and prepared for his next bout for King of the Cage. Standing in the way of his next win will be Tim Sosa of New Mexico. They will battle it out this Saturday at Spirit Lake Casino and Resort in St. Michael, ND.
Cooney trains out of Unified Martial Arts in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. His last fight was March of this year, in which he landed his win in the first round by rear naked choke. He is eager to step back in to the cage.
“My last fight made me hungry to fight again, and get another W under my belt,” he said. “After that fight, my team and I have been working hard. I feel like I am the best fighter I have ever been and cannot wait to prove it.”
Cooney is aware that Sosa is a solid opponent and not to be underestimated. “He is a well-rounded fighter, and a great test for my second professional fight,” Cooney said. “This is a great opportunity and I am excited to show the world that Alex Cooney is one of the best 125lbs prospects out there.
“I treat every fight as if it was a title fight. This is going to be a competitive fight, but I am ready for everything and anything. I am looking to take the W by any means possible.”
Cooney has had several finishes in his MMA history, both by rear naked choke and triangle choke. However, he is also known for his keen striking and reach. Saturday’s fight will be unpredictable as he utilizes his vast array of tools.
“It will be a tough fight,” said Cooney, “but I am very prepared.
“Spirit Lake Casino and Resort better be ready Saturday Aug. 8th, because I am looking to bring the house down, and take my W as loud as possible!”
I have no doubt.
