The King of the Cage 170 lb. Welterweight Title is up for grabs this Saturday, and undefeated fighter Frank Schuman fully intends to be wearing that belt at the end of the night.
Schuman, a top ranked welterweight fighter from Lac du Flambeau, WI will face off against veteran fighter Jesse Juarez from Torrance, CA. “Juarez has a 22-10 professional record, and is a Bellator vet of 6-2,” explained Schuman. “However, I haven’t seen anything from him that I don’t expect, or haven’t been training for. I already am the Welterweight Champ for KOTC. Jesse is just another pawn on the chess board that is standing in my way.”
A title fight is designed to go five rounds, but Schuman doesn’t see it lasting that long. “I see this fight ending within three rounds,” he predicted. “I’m not saying I’m not ready for all five rounds. But it is my style is to look for the finish.
“I can say that Juarez’s best bet to beating me is smothering me and grinding out the fight for all five rounds, and win by a boring decision win. But, by doing that, he will come into my clinch game and ground game. Yeah, he was some big wrestler back in the day, eight to ten years ago. Let’s see if he can hang with the overwhelming punches and non-stop ground attacks.
“I don’t have any issues with wrestlers. But, when you try and ride out a fight to win via decision, it gets boring fast. Personally, I see this fight ending in round 2 via submission.” All but one of Schuman’s seven professional fights have ended in the first round with a submission.
